Jamie /// A Creative and Curious Soul
I discovered a hidden treasure at a local gym, Sivananda yoga. It offered the calm, focus, and strength my scattered mind and aching body needed. Drawn deeper, I traveled to Kerala, India, immersing myself in Ashram life and completing my first transformative teacher training in 2015.
With a varied working background from postman to graphic designer, I've done regular jobs. My body isn't naturally flexible or athletic, which is something that makes my teaching more relatable. Inspired to share the benefits of yoga, I started teaching part-time and, in 2017, left Royal Mail to become a full-time yoga teacher.
My Teaching, Training and Experience
Training as a Somatic Exercise Coach with Lisa Petersen in 2018 transformed my practice, deepening my focus on self-empowerment through movement, a journey I continue with Lisa and other inspiring teachers.
For over a decade, I've led yoga and mindful movement classes across Manchester, from community centers and universities to retreats and online spaces. Thriving in lively leisure centers, I weave creativity, adaptability, and a touch of humor into my teaching, fostering a non-competitive space for mindful movement and introspection.
Beyond yoga, I immerse myself in bhakti, 5 Rhythms dance, and ongoing trainings, drawing from my background in design, the arts, and mental health occupational therapy to enrich my teaching.

"I never thought that yoga (even in it's
modified way) was something I would even do.
It has helped me to sleep better
as I incorporate breathing techniques to help
me to relax and not feel tense.."
